Takeaways From Manila
In our May newsletter we shared a special edition with highlights from our unforgettable journey to the Far East. The adventure began with the 35th Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Global Conference in Manila, Philippines. It was a truly inspiring gathering of image professionals from around the world.
This remarkable five-day conference was rich with immersive experiences in the Philippine’s vibrant culture. It also included learning sessions by masters of the image industry, celebrations and awards, a Board of Directors’ retreat on the island of Boracay and time to share with colleagues from across the globe. Three of the dynamic keynote speakers, included:
- Paulo Tibig – Award-winning entrepreneur and motivational speaker, who shared strategies for achieving business breakthroughs.
- Bea Valdes – Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Philippines, who, along with her team, inspired us with “Storytelling Through Design.”
- Amber Renea – Australia’s leading voice in e-learning, who spoke on adopting a “Success in Style” mindset.
What more could you ask for? It was a fitting celebration of AICI’s 35-year legacy!
With so many insights and unforgettable moments, narrowing down what to share in this issue of the newsletter was no easy task. But as I reviewed my notes, photos and posts, one keynote stood out. So I’m excited to focus on my top takeaways from Paulo Tibig’s powerful talk. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or building your career in a job, his insights offer value to anyone committed to business growth and personal success.
Strategies From Paulo Tibig: A Summary
Prioritize Authenticity in Business
Being authentic in your approach to your work builds trust and credibility with clients, setting you apart from influencers who may lack genuine expertise.
Authenticity comes from our hearts. You know a pseudo authentic individual. We have to be transparent. We have to think of ways we have to share things that really resonate and help our audience.
Practice Ethical Leadership
Success in business should be founded on ethical practices and excellence, focusing on stewardship rather than just profit.
Business is not all about profit. It’s about stewardship. It’s about being leaders, whether or not you’re a leader in your organization or your team. We are all stewards. The best thing is to have the foundation that everything will be above board.
Adapt to Rapid Industry Changes
Stay relevant in a fast-paced industry by continuously adapting to changes, embracing new technologies and finding ways to provide unique value.
We have to be in sync with the times. We have to go with the flow. And the flow tells us about what it is to be relevant. If 10 years down the road, we’re still doing the same thing, that’s where we’ll be left behind.
Build a Community for Brand Loyalty
Creating a community around your business fosters loyalty, amplifies your brand, and provides opportunities for retention and engagement.
More than selling, it’s about creating a movement for your business and fostering the values and purpose of your community. Simple examples include Facebook pages, a LinkedIn community, or quarterly or monthly meetups.
Commit to Hard Work and Perseverance
Success in any service or business requires commitment, hard work and perseverance. It’s not just about talent or knowledge, but consistent effort and dedication.
It is about hard work, everyone. Hard work. Sorry. No pain, no money. You have to persevere.
Stand Out in a Competitive Market
To succeed it’s crucial to differentiate yourself from competitors by offering unique value, much like being an orange among apples.
You need to dare and be different. Without doing so, you will just be one of many similar apples. Without standing out you will have difficulty sustaining your business.
Network and Collaborate Strategically
Forming strategic alliances and collaborations, even with competitors, can lead to business breakthroughs. Focus on shared values and mutual benefits.
When you’re founded in the same belief, both of you will benefit out of collaboration. Competition and cooperation go together.
It was an amazing trip! As I continue to reflect on the wealth of learning and experiences I’ve gained, I’m confident that even more insights will emerge.
